Germany Wins World Cup But England Fans Clean Up In The Gambling Departments

Germany Wins World Cup But England Fans Clean Up In The Gambling Departments

Germany's victory in the World Cup was lauded by football fans around the world. But for some English fans, the real victory was their clean sweep in the gambling departments.

The Englishmen had wagered heavily on Germany to win, and it paid off handsomely. Some punters reportedly made £1 million in profits from their bets.

While England may have lost on the pitch, they certainly won in the bookies' offices.

This is not the first time that England has triumphed in gambling markets. The team's unexpected run to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 generated over £200 million in profits for British bookmakers.

So why do English fans seem to be so good at betting on their own teams?

Some experts say that it is simply a case of dumb luck. Others argue that there is a method to their madness, and that England fans are able to exploit pricing anomalies in the betting markets.

Whatever the reason, it looks like English fans will continue to make a mint from betting on their national team. And long may it continue – especially if England can finally end its 52-year wait for a World Cup trophy!

Neymar's Brilliance Not Enough As Brazil Falls To Germany In Arlington

The Neymar show was in full effect in Arlington as Brazil took on Germany in the World Cup semifinal. Unfortunately for Brazil and their fans, it just was not enough as they fell to the Germans 7-1. Neymar was electric from the start, scoring the first goal of the match in the 8th minute off a brilliant free kick. He then set up Oscar for Brazil's second goal in the 29th minute, putting them up 2-0 going into halftime.

However, it all came unraveled for Neymar and Brazil in the second half. In just the 11th minute, Germany scored their first goal of the match on a header from Thomas Mueller off a corner kick. And then, in what can only be called an utter collapse by Brazil, Germany scored five more goals in a span of 18 minutes to take a commanding 6-0 lead. This included two goals by Miroslav Klose, which made him the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history with 16 goals. The final goal of the match came in injury time as Toni Kroos scored to make it 7-1.

For Neymar and Brazil, this defeat is surely one that will be remembered for a long time. It is by far their biggest loss in international play, and it will no doubt lead to plenty of soul searching and criticism back home. While Neymar put on a dazzling show for much of the match, he ultimately could not do enough to prevent this historic loss.

Netherlands Lose World Cup Final, Spain Crowned Champion

The Netherlands have lost the World Cup final to Spain, 1-0. This is the first time Spain has won the World Cup, and the first time Netherlands has lost a World Cup final.

In the 8th minute of the game, Andres Iniesta scored from a volley to give Spain the lead. The Netherlands had several chances to equalize in the second half, but they were not able to score.

Spain was able to control possession for most of the game and did not allow the Netherlands many chances. David Villa was named Man of the Match for his excellent performance.

This is the third time that Spain has finished as runner-up in a World Cup. They also finished second in 1950 and 1954.

Italy Outplayed By Uruguay In Juicy Encounter

The clash of the two South American titans in Group D of the World Cup was always going to be a spectacle, and it certainly didn't disappoint. Italy started brightly and looked dangerous going forward, but eventually Uruguay's class told as they ran out deserved 2-0 winners.

Uruguay were missing their star man Luis Suarez, who is suspended for the tournament after biting an opponent last season, but they still had more than enough firepower to trouble Italy. Edinson Cavani, who plays for French champions Paris Saint-Germain, was particularly lively and caused the Italian defence all sorts of problems.

Cavani put Uruguay ahead midway through the first half with a well-taken finish, and then doubled their advantage shortly before half-time with a superb free-kick. Italy pushed hard for a way back into the game in the second half but couldn't find a way past the stubborn Uruguayan defence, meaning that La Celeste progress to the next round as group winners.

For Italy, it's been a disappointing World Cup so far. They don't look like the same team that reached the final four years ago, and they will now have to face off against either Sweden or Switzerland in order to stay in the competition.

Ghana End Their World Cup Campaign With A Golden Goal

The Black Stars had to fight hard in their last game of the group stages to make sure they did not end up going home empty-handed. They started off poorly, conceding a goal early on in the match, but they were able to pull themselves back into the game and ultimately secure a victory with a golden goal courtesy of Asamoah Gyan.

This was an important win for Ghana, as it meant that they would finish in third place in their group and would therefore be able to stay in Russia for the next stage of the World Cup. The team will now face off against Uruguay in the Round of 16, and they will need to put in a much improved performance if they are going to have any chance of progressing any further in the tournament.

It has been an up-and-down few weeks for Ghana, who kicked off their World Cup campaign with a disappointing loss to America. They were then able to bounce back with two wins over Tunisia and Panama, which saw them reach the third place play-off game. This match against Uruguay will be a tough one, but Ghana will be hoping that they can continue their good form and come away with a win.
